A clinical manager in Geriatrics who is accountable for improving performance on a set of clinical indicators (KPI’s) feels that the indicators should be enhanced for her elderly population. To make her case to the Data Governance Committee, she creates a CLG study that measures outcomes using a proposed modification to the KPI definition and applies that in a Time to Outcome method to a representative elderly patient cohort. She also prototypes the Pivot and detailed Lists that she would like to see as drill-through options in the KPI dashboard. Finally, she adds a comparison group of representative younger adults. She uses the saved results of her CLG study when presenting her case to the Data Governance Committee. In subsequent research projects she is able to reuse her study and apply the same retrospective analysis definitions to new patient groups.
